A Home in Drayton Valley

After losing her great-aunt, Tarsie loses her hope of ever seeing her homeland of Ireland again.  But, having found a friend in the sickly Mary Brubacher, Tarsie finds purpose in helping her friend and her family have a better life out of the city.  As Mary’s condition worsens, Tarsie and Mary finally convince Mary’s husband, Joss, to take a risk and move the family to Drayton Valley.

As they prepare to cross the river into Kansas, Mary crosses into eternity, but not before making Tarsie promise to care for–and love–Mary’s two children and her husband.  Tarsie already loves the children, but Joss is another story.

Unaware that Joss has already decided to leave his children with her and return to the city, Tarsie fights for her new little family.  With the help of Joss’ new boss, Simon, Tarsie works to show Joss that God loves him and has a better plan for him and his family–a plan to give them A Home in Drayton Valley.

This latest book by Kim Vogel Sawyer captured my heart.  Though at times heart-wrenching, I love the simplicity of this story and the focus on the truth that God’s love can help us to overcome any hurts of our past–even generational ones.  The characters come to life and make me want to learn more about their story.  Highly recommend this book!
