The Homeschool Mom’s Winter Summit 2015

I have to say that this morning, I really didn’t want to miss out on a fun day in the sun with my family to attend a conference.  But, I had paid for my ticket, and I knew that I would be glad I attended the Texas Homeschool Mom’s Winter Summit again this year! (if you missed it, you can register now for just $69!)

The Winter Summit team is determined to encourage homeschooling moms, and they do a fantastic job making each mom feel special and providing a great program–seriously–even the name tags are cute!

When I checked in, I received a gift bag filled with snacks (including an apple, an orange, a water bottle, peanuts, a pack of gum, and some chocolate kisses!) & these cute goodies along with my program.  I have to say…I’m a sucker for pretty journals and office supplies!  🙂

After checking in, I followed the sounds of worship to the main seminar room, which was filled with women at beautifully decorated tables. We worshiped and rocked out to Mandisa’s “Overcomer.”  🙂  Along with the amazing morning and afternoon sessions, I got to choose three workshops (out of 9) to attend. I chose a workshop on getting unstuck from life’s ruts, taught by Shari Yates (a powerful speaker & woman of God who I LOVE!); a workshop on weathering the predictable challenges of life (including marriage, homeschool, teenagers, and caregiving) by Roxanne Parks (so funny, full of wisdom & one of the founders of the Summit);  and a workshop on bringing more fun to my family by Kerri Naylor (sweet mama of 6 with great ideas for being a more fun mom!). I left all three workshops feeling more encouraged and better equipped as a homeschool mom.

In addition to the great teaching & worship, delicious lunch (delicious salad with grilled chicken and yummy dessert!), and fun goody bag, we were all entered in a drawing with dozens of prizes (including gift cards, lingerie, home decor, and more!)! I scored this super fun mason jar glass!

If you’ve never attended an event like this, I highly recommend getting to the Winter Summit next year.  Homeschool moms, especially, can feel like they are out there all alone.  Being in a room full of amazing moms on the same journey is so encouraging–and it renews your faith in what you are doing and reminds you that the challenges are worth it!
