Sutler’s Steakhouse

Since today is my birthday, my hubby took me out to dinner. In our tiny little town of Camp Verde, options are pretty limited, but we do have some decent choices. Tonight we decided to give Sutler’s a try. We figured, third time’s the charm–and I really wanted a baked potato. It’s pretty hard to mess up a baked potato, right?! Welllllllll…

I ordered the 12oz sirloin with a loaded baked potato and mixed vegetables, and Ryan got the ribeye with a potato & salad. The vegetables were amazing! A very yummy mix of green and yellow green beans and carrots. Ryan’s salad looked wonderful, as well.

The potato looked great at first sight…but the cheese, bacon, and green onions don’t make up for the lack of butter and sour cream. (Would the plain potato have been dry?!) Our sweet waitress finally brought us some butter at our request when she checked on us about halfway through our meal (they were out of sour cream-what?!). That saved the day for me! When the butter melted, my potato was worth waiting for.

Ryan makes a spectacular steak, so we were unimpressed by the steak–but they are grass fed, which is a major plus in my book.

Overall, I’d say the atmosphere (loved the country tunes playing and the great decor!) was the best part of the restaurant. I imagine when live music is playing it’s even better. Sutler’s has a great location–and a lot of memories for us. We both remember watching movies there when it was a theater–it’s where I saw Arachnophobia for the first time, and Ryan and his buddies apparently snuck into an R rated Van Damme flick in middle school–(yep 1990–we are getting old). 😂 We enjoyed the nods to Camp Verde history throughout the restaurant. The service was good, and the food was decent. Overall–it’s worth a try. Don’t expect the best food of your life, but it’s not bad for our little town. 😊
