Day #4:  Sending cards to soldiers!

Over the past several weeks, we’ve received several Christmas cards sent from charitable organizations soliciting donations for the holidays.  Since we use SendOutCards to send our Christmas cards, I thought this would be a great way to put those cards to use! The kids are going to decorate and write little notes on the cards.  And we’re going to go a little crafty and let the kiddos be creative and make their own cards.  Hopefully we can put a smile on some soldiers’ faces this Christmas!

According to Snopes.com, the only way to send cards to soldiers without knowing a particular name and address is through the Red Cross.   Through the Red Cross Holiday Mail for Heroes program, you can send cards ONLY (no letters, packages, etc) to this address:

P.O. Box 5456
Capitol Heights, MD 20791-5456

Any inserts and/or envelopes will be removed, so send cards only.  Be sure to include a return address!  Any cards not postmarked by December 9th (next Friday!) will be returned, so be sure to get them in the mail this week!  Additional rules can be found at the Red Cross Holiday Mail for Heroes site.
