Taming the Wind

Carissa and her daughter, Grace, are settling in to life on the ranch owned by her sister, Laura, and her husband, Brandon.  After nearly losing her life to her own, now deceased, husband, Carissa is learning to trust and to love again, along with learning how to deal with the hard life on the ranch.

Tyler Atherton, a Confederate soldier, lost everything–his father and his land during the war.  Carrying bitterness towards the Comanches who slaughtered his father and the government who wants his land, Tyler finds himself drawn to the woman he saved–Carissa.

In this third book in the Lone Star series (click HERE for my review of the first book), Tracie Peterson weaves a tale of the wild frontier, complete with cattle drives, Comanche raids, and kidnappers. Both Carissa and Tyler must choose to forgive and to trust in God’s plan for their lives.

While the story was interesting, it was difficult to get into.  I usually love Peterson’s books, but this one took me a long time to read.  It wasn’t terrible, but not a book I’d want to read again.  Of course, I did miss the second book in the series, so it’s possible that my feeling of disconnect was due to not having been introduced to the characters previously.
