When I first met Leslie at a Heart Link meeting, I was intrigued by her explanation of the importance of probiotics and by her demonstration of how something as simple as muscle testing can reveal what the body needs. By the time I completed my first appointment on Saturday, I was in awe. What a super cool thing! Just by testing my body’s response to different foods, etc, Leslie was able to determine what kinds of supplements I needed to help my body heal itself.
I found out, for example, that I need to take iodine for thyroid support and a certain kind of gut flora to help heal my gut. And I found out that I’m actually allergic to certain types of gut flora–maybe why probiotics didn’t help me all that much? I also found out that, at least for now, my body does not like grains…any grains–including corn, oats, even sprouted grains! Or milk. Or most cheeses. Except the ones I don’t like! 😉
The best part is that all of this was done without blood tests or any other invasive testing–just a simple muscle response test. It’s only been a few days, but I already feel better. Maybe it’s the new diet–free of sugar and grains–or maybe it’s just knowing that I’m not terribly ill–I just have to fix a few things and I’ll be feeling 100% again for the first time in several years. I’m looking forward to seeing how I feel about all this a few weeks from now. 🙂
SO in the meantime…does anyone have any fantastic ideas for grain-free foods that kids will like? (because it turns out their bodies don’t like grains, either!)
Karen
I was plagued with bronchitis until I gave up milk. Food can definitely affect our bodies! Thanks for the insight. I will check this out!
This sounds like a promising way to detect things that the doctors may have missed. As with all things, we should be led by God to the information or process that we need at the moment…
I’d probably optin for fruits and veggies. Hard to say, we love grains over here…
It’s been tough to do without grains! I’m hopeful that, once everyone’s bodies are back to working efficiently, we’ll be able to reintroduce healthy grains into our diet again.
I have heard of muscle testing before so it is interesting to read your experience with it. I have had blood tests for mineral and vitamin levels and to determine food sensitivities. I also have gut issues that required changing my diet and taking probiotics and digestive enzymes. What a difference it makes to know what your body is missing or reacting to! Not only do you feel better but you can ward off serious illness before it starts! Next time, maybe I will check out muscle testing instead of a blood draw:)
It’s so much less invasive, for sure! And, so far, we are having great luck with the supplements and diet changes–my daughter hasn’t had a tummy ache since we started, for one!
Very interesting! As the mother of a little guy who I was told was allergic to 14 different items including corn, dairy, peanuts and wheat, I’ve found it difficult to establish a nutrional plan for him. If you find that list of grain free foods please let me know!
That is tough! I ordered a cookbook called the Grain Free Gourmet–I’ll let you know how that works out. I’ve also found that paleo diet sites have some great recipes. Last night I made turkey meatballs with ground cashews instead of bread crumbs–delicious!
I’ve had muscle testing done and it is amazing. You may want to check out Leanne Rouch Ely of savingdinner.com and JJ Virgin of jjvirgin.com. They are friends of mine and have a lot of gluten free recipes. good luck!
Thanks for the recommendation, Kiyla! Gluten free sites have been helpful–that and the awesome gluten free bakery here in my town. 🙂
Wow – I’ve never heard of that before. It’s definitely something I want to check in to. Thanks for the good information.
