The Better Mom

How could I not take the opportunity to review a book called The Better Mom?! The subtitle of Ruth Schwenk’s latest book is even better: Growing in Grace Between Perfection and the Mess. I don’t know about you, but with four children ranging in ages between 2 and 16, I can use all the help I can get! 😉

The founder of The Better Mom community, Ruth Schwenk’s The Better Mom helps moms find “the secret to becoming a happier, healthier mom.” In chapters ranging from “I Have No Idea What I’m Doing!” to “It’s Tiem for Me!,” Ruth gives compassionate and genuine advice for addressing the common struggles of motherhood in a godly way.

The book is full of practical tips and great examples from Ruth’s own motherhood journey. Using biblical wisdom to help moms combat the temptation to aim for perfection, she advises that moms simply focus on their mission. I love her parting words: “…we can be intentional moms who are moving toward becoming better moms. We’re not just wanting to become better at what we do but better by becoming more like Christ. As we are shaping and influencing our kids, God is shaping us.”

If you are a mom in the thick of it, whether you have little ones or are facing the struggles of parenting a teenager, Schwenk’s book will give you hope and courage to face another day.
