Helping Women Rediscover their Dreams & Live with Purpose

Focus on Faith

Last week, we talked about your big picture goals. Who do you want to be…what do you want to accomplish? This week, we’ll talk about the realities of that. Most of us have lots more on our plates than motherhood. We have to make tough choices every day about what we say yes to…and what we don’t.

For me, the big picture for faith is knowing God and using my gifts to serve Him. How do we know Him? The same way we get to know anyone–by learning about Him and talking to Him: by reading the Word and praying. So, in my day, I know that I need to make space to read the Bible and pray.

Focus on Fun

Fun?  We can focus on fun?!  Of course, we can!  God wants for us to live our lives joyfully, but so many of us get caught up in our to do lists and forget that those lists are not the purpose of our life! We need to make time to enjoy our lives and our …

Focus on Fitness

One of the saddest events of my adult life was the loss of my Dad when I was 20. He was 49. My dad had health issues all of his life, including one major issue that I have inherited. Thankfully, the specialist told me that I will live a long, healthy life with no complications from this disease. But, still, my thoughts often stray to my Dad. I don’t want my kids to live their adult lives without me. Yes, I know that God knows the number of our days…but, still, I want to do everything I can to be as healthy as possible.

For me, that includes regular exercise and a healthy diet. So, I started making changes to our diet, bit by bit, over the past several years.

Focus on Family

So many moms I talk to feel torn between their work and their family. They might work full time and feel that they spend every spare minute in the evening cooking and cleaning, rather than spending time with their kids. Or they might have a business from home and feel torn between building their business and spending time with their kids. One minute, they feel guilty for spending too much time on work, the next they feel guilty for spending too much time with their kids and not getting work done. Still other moms stay at home with their kids, but are constantly cleaning or doing other projects and STILL feel like they don’t have enough time with their kids.

Focus on Faith

Most moms I talk to tell me that they feel scattered and unorganized. Especially at this time of the year, they want a plan that will help them accomplish everything on their plate without making them feel like they are going to lose their minds. So, they come up with a schedule that works for a little while, and then they are right back where they started.

I want to help you avoid that this year. 2012 is going to be a year of Focus for me–and for you, too, if you let it.
