I love holidays! Unlike the author of this blog, I think it’s so much fun to take a little break from ‘real life’ and just have fun with my kiddos! We don’t go overboard, but we do have some fun traditions. :). St. Patrick’s Day is one of our favorites, so I thought I’d share a few of our traditions with you!
A few years ago, I bought a shamrock necklace kit from Oriental Trading. Normally, I’m not happy about having 9 extra crafts, but in this case it was great! The kit basically came with some string, some pieces of green straws, and a ton of different sizes and shades of green foam shamrocks. We made necklaces that year:
…but of course had a ton left over! I used them to make our March classroom calendar, too, and STILL had a ton left! So, every year, they make their appearance on St. Patrick’s morning as a trail to different surprises for the kiddos.
First, they put on their necklace. This year, their second stop was a little treat–a few of these creme de menthe chocolates:
Then they headed over to put on their green:
Their last stop this year was breakfast–Lucky Charms, of course! 🙂
For lunch, we had these cute mini shamrock cookies (cookie cutter from Pampered Chef):
For dinner, we had green pancakes and “Piney Greeney” smoothies (recipe HERE):
This year, I whipped up some St. Patrick’s Day cloth napkins, so I don’t have to buy new paper ones every year! Aren’t they cute?! Just 3/4 yard of two different fabrics to make six–they are reversible!
