The 21 Day Fix

My friend Ashley has been posting about Beachbody on Facebook for a long time. I’ve known her for probably close to 10 years, and she was one of the first reps on my team way back in 2008. It’s been so cool to watch her transformation, so I finally decided to message her about joining her new group.  (I LOVE supporting other moms who have at home businesses!!!)

THE PLAN
When she sent me the info on the 21 Day Fix, I knew I was in. Not only does it come with 30 minute workouts for every day of the week, but it comes with a complete nutrition plan based on your caloric needs. You use the colored cups that come with the package to measure out your servings for the day. The workout schedule is laid out for you. Best of all, it’s only 21 days! Here’s what came in my package:

FOOD
I’m in the 1200-1499 range, so I get 3 Greens, 2 Purples, 4 Reds, 2 Yellows, 1 Blue, 1 Orange, and 2 tsp. The system reminds me a little bit of Weight Watchers in that you can choose what you eat, but it has the added benefit of ensuring that you make good choices. I’m using two things to track my foods–one, the Reminders app on my phone. I just put in the number of items I get for each category and check them off throughout the day. If I’m out and about, I can see at a glance what I can have. Second, I’ve started planning out meals for the day. That way, I can make better choices, spreading out protein, etc. Here’s my plan for today:

I’m going to be honest here–I’ve gone to bed HUNGRY the past two days. Plus, I’m having some major sugar withdrawals–big headache last night. I’m hoping spreading out my proteins better will help with both these issues. And my friend/trainer tells me that after the first three days, she felt like she couldn’t eat all the food in her plan.

SHAKEOLOGY
I did go ahead and do the Shakeology, even though I don’t typically like protein shakes. I got the chocolate…it’s not my favorite thing in the world, but it’s not terrible. So far, I’ve tried mixing in a 1/2 banana & some extra cocoa and a cup of frozen mixed berries. Today, I added in some greens to my berries. I didn’t gag, but it’s not something I’m excited about drinking. lol

WORKOUTS
So far, I’ve completed Yoga Fix, Total Body Cardio Fix, and Upper Body Fix. The workouts are tough, but doable. They are definitely P90X style, but a lot faster paced, since they are 30 minutes instead of 60. I’ve been doing BodyRock workouts for the past several months, and these kick my butt! I really like the trainer, Autumn Calabrese, and she gives lots of modifications if you find the workout too hard for your fitness level.

I’m only on Day 3, but so far I am really liking this program. I feel like I’m eating well & getting fit. Updates to come 🙂
