Deadly Echoes

Deadly Echoes is the second book in Nancy Mehl‘s Finding Sacnctuary series.  Though I didn’t read the first book in the series, I really enjoyed this novel.

Sarah Miller lives in a small town called Sanctuary with an old friend, Janet.  Currently a schoolteacher, Sarah has a troubled past.  Her parents were killed when she was a little girl and, after years in the foster system, she lost track of her only relative–her sister.  Though she has just been reunited with her long lost sister, Hannah, and her niece, Cicely, Sarah’s joy is cut short with the news that Hannah has been murdered.

When the details seem to echo those from her parents’ murder, Sarah steps into an investigation that quickly turns dangerous.  Sarah’s friend, Paul, who is also a police officer, offers to help her in her search.  Though the two clearly have feelings for each other, the mystery and Sarah’s insecurities about her past seem destined to keep them apart. As the two work together to discover who to trust and uncover what really happened to Sarah’s parents and sister, Sarah also must face the truth about who she is.

I really enjoyed the twists and turns in this novel and the developing romance between Sarah and Paul.  This was a great book that kept me on the edge of my seat.
