An Uncommon Courtship is the latest in the Hawthorne House series by Kristi Ann Hunter. The series follows the unusual love stories of the Hawthorne siblings and their friends. Others in the series include the novella  A Lady of Esteem (click here to read it free!), A Noble Masquerade, and An Elegant Facade. Though I somehow missed An Elegant Facade, I did not have any trouble picking up the story line in this book.

In this novel, the reader is introduced to Lord Trent Hawthorne and Lady Adelaide Bell on their wedding day. Neither Trent nor Adelaide is happy about being married, but both are resigned to make the best of it and to honor God and each other with their marriage. However, they aren’t sure how to make that happen. Trent comes up with a crazy idea to court Adelaide and to give her the season she never had. While this gives them time to get to know each other, it also presents other problems.

Overall, I enjoyed this installment in the series. It was fun to revisit some of the other siblings and to see how Trent and Adelaide work things out. As always, the books are engaging and full of humor. However, there are some parts of the book that are definitely TMI and inappropriate for younger readers. As a mom with a young teenage daughter, I find that very disappointing. I rely on my favorite Christian authors to provide books that my daughter can read without worrying about the content.
