Setting Appointments/ The Invitation

Why invite?

If you aren’t setting appointments, nothing is happening in your business. One of my mentors (and one of the top network marketers in the world), Jordan Adler, always says something like, “Show me your calendar, and I’ll tell you how your business is going.” That’s because setting appointments is a predictor of your success in your business. People aren’t just going to come to you–you have to invite them!

Who should I be inviting?

Well, the obvious answer is anyone who you want to share your business with. But you should also continue inviting customers and even team members. Doing so helps them to feel involved and part of a team. It helps to build their connection with you and with your company. It’s so easy to feel alone in network marketing–create a space where people feel wanted and involved by inviting them to events!

What do I invite them to?

Of course, you should be inviting people to look at your product and your opportunity. But you should also be inviting them to events, where, of course, they’ll be exposed to your product and opportunity. Can you see why you can and should still invite customers and team members? Invite them to see new products or to events (whether company sponsored, team events, or just a meeting with you and a few at a coffee shop!).

How?

Invitations can go out in any number of ways, depending on how you met the person, what your connection is, and what your invitation is to. Calls, texts, e-mails, in person invitations, cards, social media messages–all of these are great ways to invite folks to look at your product or come to an event. Just make sure that your invitation is personal and feels friendly and not salesy!

When?

I have two ideas for making time to set your appointments. First, though, you must have a list!

  1. Set a goal for the number of people you want to reach in a day/week/month. Then set a time each day to make your invitations. (Don’t you just love that word? Invitation is so much more friendly than setting appointments!)
  2. Do a dial for dollars challenge with your team or on your own. Set a timer for a certain amount of time, and see how many appointments you can set in that time frame. This makes it so much fun to make those calls!

Finally, tracking. Make sure to keep track of all of those invitations on your tracking sheets!
